A piece of nature that I adore. And it witnessed the stories that I have encountered throughout life .

I have purchased this necklace made of wooden beads and shark tooth at a local Hawaiian souvenir store during my drip for my older sister’s wedding in 2018. It was not an expensive necklace but I loved its simplistic design plus it always reminds me of my mother and sisters along with the journeys that we had went on. After Hawaii, I had also worn it during all my travels in Japan with my family, so it also holds the memories and love we had there.

The shark tooth somehow reminds me of summer, when dolphins in group glide through the deep blue sea while the sun shines brilliantly in the clear sky. It allows me to feel a sense of freedom as if facing the vast ocean. The wooden materials used also exhibits a primitive tribal aesthetic to it. I have always adored natural textures in jewellery, as they remind us of nature’s overlooked beauty in our day to day urban lives. Being in nature not only provides with us a peace of mind, but also endless creativity. The nature has always been the source of human’s ultimate inspiration, which in turn cradled all forms of arts and cultures flourished today.

Another piece which I cherish a lot also holds significant natural elements to it. It was a necklace that took inspiration from PRADA, made of string and shells. I purchased it during one of my business trip to Milan where I came across it at a market stall. It was a simplified version of what PRADA had put out that time, and I had bought it for just 8 euros. I have always been fascinated by the beauty of the ocean and its seemingly magical marine lives. Furthermore, this shell necklace somehow reminds me of the conch shell which is considered an auspicious symbol in Tibet. They together concludes why I treasure this piece immensely.
