"Mola Molar" Studs II by Pearl Lee

HK$2,200.00

Using the body as subject, this series found its inspiration in the maker’s intimate relationship with her dental braces. The transition from tool to companion is a journey of self-acceptance, and when she is finally relieved of the wires and brackets, a certain emptiness overcame her which in turn became her muse.

The profound inspiration took form via pearls, after carving nooks and crevasses into its surface, the resemblance between the material and its subject of portrayal is uncanny. Responding to what felt missing, the pearlescent coat symbolizes the artist’s gratitude and the piece itself a token of remembrance. The fact that Pearl is also the artist's first name adds another strata of meaning to this highly personal body of work.

Dimension: approx. 2.5 x 2 x 1.3 cm
Material: pearl, sterling silver and plastic

This piece has been sold, we can create a similarly inspired piece. Each piece is handmade to order and may look slightly different. We will need 1 month time before the shipment. If you want to talk to us before purchase, feel free to contact us via info@obellery.com
