'Gimmel', comes from the Latin 'gemllus', meaning twin. The gimmel collection is a design of two or more bands joined together, was commonly used in the 16th and 17th centuries to signify a betrothal or marriage. When the bands swivel and align they become one, symbolising the union of two people.
