Using the body as subject, this series found its inspiration in the maker’s intimate relationship with her dental braces. The transition from tool to companion is a journey of self-acceptance, and when she is finally relieved of the wires and brackets, a certain emptiness overcame her which in turn became her muse.
The profound inspiration took form via pearls, after carving nooks and crevasses into its surface, the resemblance between the material and its subject of portrayal is uncanny.
